The things I remember most about Zach MacLean in the early 2000s is how much he visually contrasted with the other members of One Day Late and how he was always smiling and laughing when you'd have a conversation with him. Just sincerely one of the most enjoyable performers to watch because he seemed to be having the most fun of anyone I've ever seen play.
GoodQuestion came about at the right time. That kind of acoustic emo style was big in 2002, with Dashboard Confessional and the Get Up Kids and stuff. Alan and Jono always seemed a little more reserved than the other half of their band Face Down, and this stuff was a little more mature and intimate compared to said band.
I put on a show for my 22nd birthday at the Polish Village in Whitney Pier. It was the first show I ever played live, doing a handful of covers with Josh Brake on guitar. Alan and Jono finished it off and always played and harmonized so well.
I run into these three guys far too infrequently because they all have moved away. When I do, I still get a little glimpse of those kids I knew way back when. That's a great thing.
